App-based digital insurance manager and broker: users transfer broker mandates for existing policies, see all contracts in one place, and receive algorithm-supported advice and tariff optimisation.
2026 reality
CLARK (CLARK Holding SE) operates the digital insurance manager in Germany and states it is also present in France, the Netherlands, the UK and Switzerland. It reports more than 600,000 customers and a profitable 2023 with 20% growth in Germany.
In November 2021 CLARK agreed to absorb Allianz X's finanzen Group in a predominantly share-based deal (closing expected Q1 2022), making Allianz X its largest minority shareholder and adding lead generation, human advisory capacity and broker licences in the Netherlands and the UK. The model broadened from app-only brokerage to hybrid digital-plus-personal advice across several European markets.
combining with finanzen.de added lead generation and advisory capacity, consistent with the industry finding that pure robo-advice struggled to convert complex life and pension products.
one of the largest digital brokers in German-speaking Europe and a reference case for the 'insurance manager' model; reported profitability distinguishes it from many peers.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verified the finanzen Group deal against Allianz's 9 Nov 2021 release (added): it was an integration into CLARK for mainly CLARK equity with Allianz X as largest minority shareholder, so the milestone was retyped from merger to acquisition; 'independent' kept since Allianz X holds a minority.
