Data-driven Medicare Advantage insurer that used claims and clinical data to identify high-risk members and intervene early to improve outcomes and lower costs.
2026 reality
Clover Health is a Nasdaq-listed Medicare Advantage insurer (FY2025 total revenue USD 1.92 billion, GAAP net loss USD 85.5 million, 113,803 MA members at year-end). Its physician-facing software, originally Clover Assistant, is sold to other payors and providers as Counterpart Assistant by its subsidiary Counterpart Health.
Clover went public via a SPAC merger in January 2021 and operated a CMS Direct Contracting/ACO REACH entity from 2021, which it exited for the 2024 performance year (reported as discontinued operations). In 2024 it launched Counterpart Health to sell its clinical AI tool and services to external payors and providers. Co-founder Andrew Toy became CEO in 2023.
monetising Clover Assistant externally diversifies revenue beyond the capital-intensive, regulation-sensitive Medicare Advantage risk business.
remains one of the few listed insurtech health carriers; its distinctive asset is the point-of-care AI tool rather than the plan itself.

REVIEW · Verified FY2025 figures against the SEC 8-K earnings release and the ACO REACH exit (Dec 2023 notice, discontinued ops) via the Q1 2024 10-Q; corrected evolution, which implied Direct Contracting was ongoing, dated Counterpart Health to 2024, and removed 'toward-embedded' (software licensing is not embedded distribution).
