As catalogued
Boston-based digital small-business insurer (founded 2015 by Michael Ritchie) offering a fully digital, minutes-long application, with a planned peer-to-peer element in which member businesses would collectively own the insurer through a captive.
2026 reality
Gather no longer operates. Coverager and Agency Checklists reported in September/October 2017 that the Boston startup had shut down; the gatherins.com site returns an empty page.
Shut down in 2017, about two years after founding, without a reported successor or acquirer. According to Agency Checklists, the founder's LinkedIn profile later listed him as Head of Risk at Blispay.
an early US example of the captive/peer-to-peer small-business insurance concept that failed in the 2017 wave of P2P insurtech closures (alongside Guevara); relevant mainly as a historical reference.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verified the 2017 shutdown by opening Coverager (around September 2017) and Agency Checklists (2017-10-03, founder Michael Ritchie, 2015 founding); reworded the Blispay claim to reflect that it rests on a LinkedIn profile cited by Agency Checklists. No other changes.
