Chicago-based online health insurance marketplace and call-centre broker helping US consumers compare and buy individual and family health plans.
2026 reality
GoHealth is a private, lender-controlled health insurance distribution company focused on Medicare plans, especially Special Needs Plans. After a deliberate pullback from Medicare Advantage enrollment with weak renewal economics in 2025, it filed a prepackaged Chapter 11 in June 2026, was delisted from Nasdaq, and emerged on 21 July 2026 with ownership transferred to certain existing lenders.
Shifted from individual/ACA health plan comparison toward technology-enabled Medicare Advantage brokerage; acquired by Centerbridge (2019), IPO on Nasdaq in July 2020 raising about US$914 million, then a deep revenue and valuation decline culminating in a 2026 restructuring that returned it to private, lender ownership.
Medicare Advantage offered larger commissions and a growing senior population; the model's dependence on carrier commission economics and renewal persistency later drove the 2025-2026 distress.
still one of the larger US Medicare distribution platforms, but weakened; a cautionary example for the high-volume insurtech brokerage model.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verified the full-year 2025 release (Medicare Advantage pullback, SNP focus) and the June filing and 21 July 2026 lender-owned emergence (Financier Worldwide, Kirkland, Bloomberg Law); added the sourced 2019 Centerbridge majority-stake milestone. Removed the unconfirmed US$362m 2025 revenue figure.
