Offer enterprise-wide cyber protection for the digital assets of the worlds largest companies
What became of it
Completed · Medium confidence · Last verified 2026-10-17
As catalogued
A co-insurance partnership between Beazley and Munich Re's Corporate Insurance Partner unit offering the world's largest companies tailored, enterprise-wide cyber cover with up to USD/EUR 100m of limit from a single source, including business interruption, cyber extortion, and property damage and bodily injury from cyber attacks.
2026 reality
The partnership no longer exists. Formalised in April 2017 as the joint venture 'Vector', it was ended by Munich Re and Beazley after around four years of operation, according to Insurance Insider; both insurers continue to write large cyber risks separately.
Announced in April 2016 and awarded an innovation prize at the European Risk Management Awards in December 2016, the arrangement was branded Vector in April 2017; in October 2017 the partners reported strong demand for broader cover against business-interruption and supply-chain cyber risks. The joint venture was later discontinued.
no reason is documented in the sources available; by the end of the decade large cyber buyers increasingly built towers from many insurers' capacity, reducing the need for a dedicated two-insurer vehicle.
an early example of insurers pooling capacity to offer large single-source cyber limits to corporates; it is now of historical interest only.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Confirmed the 2016 launch, 2017 Vector formalisation and October 2017 demand report against the Munich Re/GlobeNewswire releases and Carrier Management; the wind-down rests on a paywalled Insurance Insider headline and lead, so confidence stays medium. Added an approximate closure milestone (c. 2020) citing that article.
