As catalogued
On-demand, short-duration situational insurance bought instantly via smartphone app (cover from 24 hours), developed by Telekom Innovation Laboratories and offered as a platform for insurers.
2026 reality
The surenow.de domain no longer resolves. Versicherungsbote reported that Deutsche Telekom stopped operating the surenow.de insurance portal because the concept did not meet expectations; no successor SureNow offer exists.
SureNow GmbH, a wholly owned Telekom subsidiary, launched the app in early 2013 with a ski and snowboard policy developed with HDI (from EUR 2.90 per day). The HDI policy reportedly reached only a 'four-digit' number of sales, and Telekom shut the portal down; it said it would instead offer short-term policies within an overall insurance app and channel the experience into a digital cooperation with Allianz.
low take-up of a stand-alone, single-product situational insurance app (per HDI's reported four-digit sales) led Telekom to fold the concept into a broader insurer partnership rather than run its own portal.
an early (2013) telco-led example of on-demand micro-duration insurance, predating later situational-insurance insurtechs; relevant mainly as a reference case for low demand for single-occasion cover.
