improving the underwriting and management of liability catastrophe risk
What became of it

As catalogued
A US analytics company (founded 2012) that modelled emerging liability catastrophe risk, such as from chemicals and products, by mining the scientific literature, giving casualty underwriters forward-looking accumulation and risk-selection tools.
2026 reality
Praedicat is owned by Moody's, which acquired it in September 2024 and is folding its casualty and liability modelling into Moody's insurance solutions alongside the RMS catastrophe models. praedicat.com failed the TLS handshake in October 2026, consistent with the standalone site being retired.
Before the acquisition Praedicat launched the CoMeta liability catastrophe model and covered emerging liabilities such as PFAS, D&O and climate liability. Moody's announced the acquisition on 5 September 2024 for undisclosed terms, stating it would integrate Praedicat into its existing insurance suite.
according to Moody's, the deal responds to insurer demand for casualty modelling driven by social inflation, litigation finance and climate-related liability, complementing its property catastrophe models from RMS.
Praedicat was a pioneer in casualty/liability catastrophe modelling, a niche with few specialised vendors; under Moody's it becomes part of one of the two dominant catastrophe-modelling platforms.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verified the acquisition (Moody's IR release 2024-09-05, Carrier Management, Reinsurance News) and the Moody's integration plan; corrected founding to March 2012 (RAND/RMS spin-off) and added the 2014 CoMeta launch from Carrier Management, replacing the unsupported founding citation.
