Insurance via chat
What became of it
Completed · Medium confidence · Last verified 2026-10-17
As catalogued
German start-up (founders Antonia Ermacora and Matthias Nannt, initially called ChatDichSicher) that sold insurance through Facebook/Twitter chat and an app, with human agents behind the chat, in cooperation with ERGO Direkt for private liability, travel health and dental cover.
2026 reality
No longer active. Insurgram was renamed Insurista around December 2016, a brand then operated by the Vienna messaging-SaaS start-up Oratio; Oratio shut down in April 2018, and insurista.com is now a domain-for-sale page.
Rebranded from Insurgram to Insurista (c. December 2016) under Oratio GmbH, which offered messaging-app customer communication across industries; Oratio was closed by its founders in 2018 after the chatbot market and WhatsApp API failed to materialise. No successor insurance offer was found.
an early hybrid human/chatbot insurance-advice channel whose premise (messenger-first sales) was later absorbed into mainstream insurer chat and AI assistants.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verified the ChatDichSicher/Insurgram origin and founders (deutsche-startups.de), the ERGO Direkt chat offer (IT Finanzmagazin), the Insurista rename (Coverager), Oratio's April 2018 shutdown (Trending Topics) and the domain now redirecting to a GoDaddy sale page. Removed the unverified 'commission as multi-agent' detail and added the founding milestone.
