Innovation intelligence brief
Using machine learning technology to make smart insurance policy recommendations to users which opt in to the service, based on their social media data (e.g., LinkedIn as indicator of income, Facebook as indicator of a user's appetite for risk).

As catalogued
Machine-learning recommendations of insurance products to users who opted in, using social media data (for example LinkedIn as an income proxy, Facebook as a risk-appetite proxy) to target and personalise offers; later a data-sourcing platform about business sectors supporting underwriting, risk assessment and pricing.
2026 reality
Digital Fineprint no longer exists as a product or company. Glasgow usage-based insurance broker hubb (later Taveo) acquired it in December 2021 and merged its team into its broking operations; the legal entity was renamed Hubb Technology Limited (2022) and Taveo Technology Limited (2023) and dissolved on 12 August 2025. On 20 October 2025 JMG Group announced it had acquired Taveo's broking trade and assets, with the Taveo team joining JMG's Greenwood Moreland business.
Moved from a B2B AI/data vendor (backed by Eos Venture Partners and Pentech) to an in-house data platform of a commercial insurance broker after the 2021 acquisition; the owning broker was itself acquired in 2025.
according to the buyer, the data platform was acquired to automate quoting and tailor service, i.e. used as internal broker infrastructure rather than sold to insurers.
Historically notable as an early, privacy-sensitive attempt to use social data in insurance distribution, an approach constrained by GDPR and platform data-access changes.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verified the hubb acquisition (Insurance Age, 2021-12-07), the renames and 2025-08-12 dissolution (Companies House), and the JMG/Taveo deal via Insurance Business (2025-10-20), replacing database-only sourcing for that milestone. Removed the unverified GTCR/Synova backing claim.
