Innovation intelligence brief
Added by the 2026 Swiss InsurTech research (issue #41) from public sources, not by the original academic study (Stoeckli, Dremel & Uebernickel). Its 2016 and 2017 classifications apply the original taxonomy definitions but were not validated by that study. All innovations in this cohort · Methodology ↗
AI company founded by AXA Switzerland to digitise and automate motor claims handling with computer vision and machine learning (guided photo documentation, car and windshield damage assessment, document text extraction, fraud prevention, FNOL triage).
Research profile · Swiss Innovation · 2021–2026
Classification notes · Operated as an AXA subsidiary ('independent subsidiary of AXA' per its career page): company status corporate-initiative and roles start-up, service-provider and traditional-insurance, as for Flink (Helvetia) and Lings (Generali) in the calibration set. Business model b2b-saas rests on the company's stated move to other European clients; commercial terms are not public. Strategic evolution kept 'retained' (the seg3 version proposed 'expanded'): expansion to other insurers is a company statement without a named customer.
What became of it
Completed · High confidence · Last verified 2026-10-18
At launch
A separate AXA-founded technology company dedicated to AI (computer vision, ML) motor claims processing, starting with AXA Switzerland's 300,000-400,000 annual motor claims.
2026 reality
According to its website (2026), noimos offers AI modules for guided photo documentation, car and windshield damage assessment, text extraction, fraud prevention and FNOL triage, has about 30 staff, went live with a Tier 1 Swiss insurer in 2024 and is scaling to other European clients. A September 2026 article on AXA's 2029 strategy cites noimos as AXA Switzerland's subsidiary using image recognition to decide whether damaged parts are repaired or replaced.
The original model remains substantially intact; the company reports progression from MVP (2022) to production pilot (2023) to full go-live (2024) and states it is scaling to other European clients.
an insurer-owned claims-AI vendor with direct access to a large Swiss motor claims book, which differentiates it from independent claims-AI vendors (e.g. Tractable) in training data and domain integration.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verifier: merged with the seg3 version (added the September 2026 MotorsActu source confirming the 2026 AXA link). Removed the unsupported claim that job postings cite LLMs (the career page names only Vertex AI and Kubeflow). Winterthur domicile now sourced to finews; MVP and pilot milestones retyped as 'other'.
