B2B platform with which insurers, MGAs and distributors design, price, launch via API and monitor parametric covers for weather and climate perils (and, originally, technology downtime) that pay out automatically when measured triggers are breached, for segments such as farmers, gig workers, loan portfolios and SMEs.
Research profile · Swiss Innovation · 2021–2026
Classification notes · The company and its first (outage) product predate the October 2021 window; the record covers the in-window weather and climate parametric platform, first evidenced in August 2022. Change dimensions are relative to that launch: geographic expansion (Indian subsidiary, US captive contract, 2024) is evidenced; the outage-to-weather move happened at launch and is not counted as a line expansion. Maturity 'experimental' because traction evidence is limited to the CEO's 2024 statement of seven programmes with first recurring revenue.
What became of it

At launch
Riskwolf started in 2021 with parametric cover for internet outages (pilot in South East Asia with a global reinsurer); from 2022 its platform also covered weather-related risks, with pilots for gig workers, delivery drivers, farmers and SMEs.
2026 reality
The company website presents a platform to design, launch and monitor parametric climate and weather insurance for agriculture (crop), gig economy (income) and loan protection, with case studies in India (according to the company, HDFC ERGO and FIL Industries renewed an apple-grower product), Africa and Australia/New Zealand, and a subsidiary Riskwolf India Private Ltd in Delhi. In November 2024 the CEO reported seven parametric programmes signed with first recurring revenue and total funding of CHF 1.4 million equity plus over CHF 1 million in grants.
Moved its focus from digital/connectivity outage risk to weather and climate parametrics; set up an Indian subsidiary and signed a first US captive contract in 2024 (according to the CEO).
weather and climate perils offer a larger and better-data-supported parametric market (agriculture, gig income, loans) than connectivity outages alone, especially in emerging markets such as India.
one of few Swiss parametric technology providers focused on emerging-market, embedded micro-covers; small and early-stage compared with CelsiusPro or reinsurer-owned parametric units.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Reframed the record on the in-window weather/climate platform: launch moved from 2021-06 (outage pre-seed, pre-window) to 2022-08, the earliest evidence of weather-risk cover (new startupticker source, 5 August 2022, which also gives a CHF 400K bridge round and India pilots). Venturelab interview fetched directly and confirms the 2024 Indian subsidiary, a 2024 US captive contract and seven programmes. Replaced the vague 'startupticker reports' milestone; removed 'line-expansion' (the line change occurred at launch). REVIEWED because key 2024+ facts rest on the company's own statements.
