Innovation intelligence brief
Added by the 2026 Swiss InsurTech research (issue #41) from public sources, not by the original academic study (Stoeckli, Dremel & Uebernickel). Its 2016 and 2017 classifications apply the original taxonomy definitions but were not validated by that study. All innovations in this cohort · Methodology ↗

At launch
GenAI applied at scale to corporate claims intake (Swiss Re reports more than 40,000 corporate insurance claims a year), with human-in-the-loop decisions.
2026 reality
In use since mid-2024. According to Swiss Re, in its first year it generated more than 1,000 alerts for potential irregularities and identified hundreds of third-party recovery opportunities beyond those found by handlers; in June 2025 Swiss Re said it was exploring use in other business lines. Trade press still described it in September 2026.
The original model remains substantially intact; extension to other business lines was being explored (June 2025).
one of the few documented production GenAI claims deployments by a Swiss-based carrier with reported outcome metrics; mainly an internal capability rather than a product.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Swiss Re's article (live site 403) read via Internet Archive; it confirms the mid-2024 deployment, the 40,000 claims a year and the first-year figures, which are now attributed to Swiss Re rather than secondary coverage. Corrected publication dates (Swiss Re 2025-06-20, Intelligent Insurer 2025-06-23, PYMNTS 2026-09-07); added the chatbot feature and the extension plans.
