What became of it

Research is blocked: there was not enough public evidence to establish what became of this innovation. Nothing below should be read as a verified 2026 status.
As catalogued
SaaS cyber-governance platform (Austin, Texas) that measured organisations' cybersecurity maturity against NIST and gave boards a way to oversee cyber risk, with applications for cyber insurance risk assessment.
2026 reality
cybernance.com serves a static copy produced with a 'Wayback Machine Downloader' tool, with gambling spam ('Online138') injected into the title; the newest content dates from around 2020 and the footer shows © 2024. No evidence of an operating company was found.
Founded in 2015 (Austin, Texas) by Mike Shultz and Bob Barker; in 2017 broker Lockton gave its clients access to the platform and DHS granted it a SAFETY Act award; in August 2022 it reportedly added single sign-on to its NIST CSF and FFIEC CAT assessment platform. No later activity was found and the original website is no longer maintained by the company.
cyber-governance and maturity scoring for underwriting is now offered by many security-ratings and cyber-MGA platforms; no evidence Cybernance remains active.
REVIEW · Search found no activity after August 2022; remains BLOCKED. Added the February 2017 Lockton distribution partnership (Business Insurance) and the 2017 DHS SAFETY Act award as milestones.
