Innovation intelligence brief
Car insurance that unites and rewards polite drivers.
What became of it
Reviewed · Low confidence · Last verified 2026-10-17
As catalogued
A London peer-to-peer car insurance concept in which drivers chose who joined their pool, paid only for actual claims and received refunds when they had no accident, promising savings of up to 72-75% by removing the insurer as middle-man.
2026 reality
InsPool does not operate. inspool.com redirects to a HugeDomains page offering the domain for sale, and startup databases list the company as closed or inactive.
The archived 2015 website was a pre-launch early-access page ('It takes 1,000 orderly drivers for the saving to start working'; 912 sign-ups shown). In August 2016 Insurance Post reported that Inspool, a spin-off of the IIZI Group founded by Insly co-founders Ando Kivilaid and Risto Rossar, needed 2,000 members to launch and had 610. No evidence was found that a live insurance product ever launched.
one of several 2015-2017 UK P2P motor concepts (with Guevara) that did not reach a sustainable model; of historical interest only.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Confirmed that inspool.com redirects to a HugeDomains sale page and found 2016 Insurance Post coverage naming the founders (Insly co-founders Kivilaid and Rossar, an IIZI Group spin-off) and the unmet launch threshold. Added that source and milestone. Lowered confidence from medium to low because the closure rests only on databases and the lapsed domain.
