2026 reality
InstaMed is a wholly owned subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. and part of J.P. Morgan's Healthcare Payments business. It offers patient payment portals, text-to-pay, digital payouts, ERA/EFT/EOB services, clearinghouse and EHR integrations, and an API. According to the company, more than half of US healthcare provider organisations use the InstaMed Network.
JPMorgan Chase announced the acquisition in May 2019 and closed it in July 2019 (terms undisclosed; press reports cited more than $500m). InstaMed now runs as a subsidiary brand inside J.P. Morgan's healthcare payments business. The payments-network model itself remains substantially intact.
a bank-owned, network-scale healthcare payments rail. Its reach across providers and payers makes it infrastructure for the claims-payment stage of US health insurance rather than a standalone insurtech.
