Innovation intelligence brief
Innovation intelligence brief
The first marketplace for #risksharing. Meet friends and people like you to protect the things you care about.
What became of it
Blocked · Low confidence · Last verified 2026-10-17
Research is blocked: there was not enough public evidence to establish what became of this innovation. Nothing below should be read as a verified 2026 status.
As catalogued
A Hong Kong social risk-sharing marketplace where friends and like-minded people pool protection for things they care about (P2P insurance).
2026 reality
The wesurance.com.hk domain no longer resolves and no coverage after 2020 was found, so the 2026 status is unknown. The last known form (2020) was GoLion, a SaaS and API platform connecting insurers with e-commerce merchants for embedded insurance covers.
Moved away from the risk-sharing marketplace concept: in November 2017 Wesurance (CEO Eddie Chang) launched a mobile app for buying and claiming travel insurance with AI and eKYC, backed by Allied World and TransUnion, updated about seven months later. By 2020 it operated the GoLion Transformation Ecosystem, a single business API connecting insurers to merchants; in May 2020 it went live on JETCO's APIX exchange with over 30 products from three Hong Kong insurers, used by GroupBuya and FITZ. In September 2020 Invest Hong Kong reported eight staff in Hong Kong and five in Shenzhen and early entry into Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
the move from consumer P2P/travel apps to an insurer-to-merchant API layer follows the regional shift toward embedded distribution, where a small team can monetise integrations rather than acquire consumers directly.
REVIEW · Independent search found nothing after the September 2020 Invest Hong Kong case study; the 2017-2020 repositioning claims are sourced, but the 2026 status remains unknown. Kept BLOCKED; no changes.
