What became of it

As catalogued
Tencent's licensed insurance agency platform (WeSure Internet Insurance Ltd.) embedded in WeChat and QQ, letting users buy, query and claim partner insurers' health, auto, life and travel products inside a social super-app with social referral mechanics.
2026 reality
The wesure.cn site is live in 2026 and describes itself as Tencent WeSure, 'Tencent's official insurance agency platform'. The most recent operating figures found are from 2019: more than 55 million users, over 25 million insured and around 280,000 claims handled.
Between 2017 and 2019 it grew from a single launch product (Taikang Online's Weiyibao) to more than 20 insurer and reinsurer partners, including Taikang, CPIC, PICC, Ping An and MetLife. No public evidence was found of a change in the agency model after 2019; the original model appears substantially intact.
Distribution inside WeChat's social graph and payments gives it reach that standalone Chinese online agencies cannot match, but its relative scale in 2026 versus Ant Group's insurance platform is not documented in the sources found.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verified the 2019 Reinsurance News figures (55M users, 25M insured, 280k claims) and that wesure.cn still presents itself as Tencent's official insurance agency platform. No 2024-2026 evidence found; kept 'retained' but flagged unverified reports of a move into long-term life products.
