Lagos-based free online comparison service for car, health, home, travel and life insurance (plus loans and telecom plans), launched in January 2015 with insurers such as Mansard, Leadway, AIICO and Custodian; an early attempt at digital aggregation in a low-penetration insurance market.
2026 reality
The domain topcheck.com.ng no longer resolves (October 2026). TopCheck was acquired in 2017 by Silvertree Internet Holdings and folded into its Compare Africa Group; no current TopCheck-branded service was found.
TopCheck raised a seed round of about USD 1.1 million led by Mountain Partners in 2015. In February 2017 Cape Town-based Silvertree Internet Holdings acquired it for an undisclosed sum and placed it in Compare Africa Group (South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria; also owner of Compareguru and PriceCheck); CAG MD Ryan Marx took over and the founders became advisors.
according to Silvertree, the deal aimed to build Africa's largest comparison group on the model of Germany's Check24.
