2026 reality
Swiss Re announced its withdrawal from iptiQ in May 2024 and by its 2025 results reported all parts either sold or planned for run-off. The EMEA life and health business, the catalogued innovation, is being placed into run-off; the iptiq.com site still presents the company (© 2026).
iptiQ had expanded into P&C and the Americas and Australia before Swiss Re decided to exit: European P&C agreed for sale to Allianz Direct (November 2024), Australia to Hannover Re (April 2025), Americas Sales Solutions sold via management buyout (2025), remaining Americas business under a sale agreement, EMEA L&H into run-off.
Swiss Re's exit reflects a strategic refocus on core reinsurance and the difficulty of reaching scale and profitability in a capital-intensive white-label primary insurance model.
remains a reference case for reinsurer-backed B2B2C insurers; its break-up shows the limits of reinsurers moving forward into primary distribution.
