What became of it
Completed · Medium confidence · Last verified 2026-10-17
As catalogued
French app (formerly CBien, founded 2013) to inventory and value personal belongings, with more than 10 million objects referenced, linked to item-level on-demand insurance: from March 2018 users could insure single objects for EUR 0.11-1 per day, with Valoo acting as broker and MAIF subsidiary Altima as risk carrier.
2026 reality
Valoo no longer operates. Coverager reported around mid-2019 that the company was shutting down, and the domain www.valoo.com did not resolve in October 2026.
After launching on-demand cover with Altima (2018) and a limited Swiss app release with Baloise, Valoo ceased operations in 2019 without a known successor.
A frequently cited example that on-demand, per-object insurance attracted little demand; CEO David Gascoin pointed to real difficulties in distributing the offer.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Verified the closure report in Coverager (undated, CEO quote) and PitchBook's out-of-business status; a Journal du Net piece of 2 April 2019 still describes Valoo as active, so the 2019 closure is bounded to after April 2019. No classification changes.
