What became of it
Blocked · Low confidence · Last verified 2026-10-17
Research is blocked: there was not enough public evidence to establish what became of this innovation. Nothing below should be read as a verified 2026 status.
As catalogued
Sanlam's on-demand accidental injury and death cover, bought and self-activated in a smartphone app for periods from 24 hours (launch prices from R10 for R100,000 of cover, up to R1M) to 30 days; it won a 2017 Frost & Sullivan South African New Product Innovation Award.
2026 reality
The catalog URL sanlam.co.za/gocover now redirects (HTTP 301) to the generic sanlamonline.co.za homepage (October 2026). Sanlam's current online Accident Cover page offers conventional, non-medically-underwritten accidental death, disability and injury cover with call-back application and does not mention Go Cover or on-demand periods.
Launched in January 2017; by 2019 Sanlam-linked marketing described cover from 24 hours up to 90 days or on a recurring weekly to monthly basis. No later dated evidence and no discontinuation notice were found.
an early incumbent on-demand micro-cover in Africa; the redirect and Sanlam's conventional accident-cover offer suggest the episodic model was folded back into mainstream products, but this is not confirmed.
REVIEW · Re-searched Go Cover: launch (2017) and the December 2019 partner content confirmed, but no evidence after 2019 or any withdrawal notice; Sanlam's former online-solutions URL also redirects to the generic sanlamonline.co.za homepage. Record stays BLOCKED, no changes.
