Distribution partnership launched 7 July 2020 between Helvetia's online insurer Smile and Swiss neobank neon, described by neon as Switzerland's first 'mobile bancassurance': neon users take out Smile car, motorbike and household insurance via the neon app with a cash bonus.
2026 reality
neon's website still presents the Smile partnership: Smile car, household and motorbike policies (smile.car, smile.home, smile.bike) can be taken out via the 'Benefits' tab of the neon app with a discount/reward paid into the neon account. Smile remains a Helvetia online brand after the Helvetia-Baloise merger; Helvetia said on 30 June 2026 that Smile's services remain available.
The original model remains substantially intact. The parent changed: Helvetia merged with Baloise, and the unified Swiss Helvetia offer launched on 1 July 2026 with Smile kept as the online channel.
an early example of insurance distributed inside a neobank app in Switzerland; commercially it is a referral/affiliate arrangement rather than deeply embedded cover.

REVIEW · Fetched Helvetia's 30 June 2026 release: confirms the joint Swiss launch on 1 July 2026 under the Helvetia brand and that Smile's services remain available. Partnership status relies on neon's live page; no changes.
