Innovation intelligence brief
Added by the 2026 Swiss InsurTech research (issue #41) from public sources, not by the original academic study (Stoeckli, Dremel & Uebernickel). Its 2016 and 2017 classifications apply the original taxonomy definitions but were not validated by that study. All innovations in this cohort · Methodology ↗
Digital healthcare ecosystem with a portal and free patient app in which insured persons coordinate outpatient, inpatient and digital care: storing health documents and medication lists (incl. eMediplan), messaging health professionals, viewing a treatment timeline, and booking appointments and services.
Research profile · Swiss Innovation · 2021–2026
Classification notes · Company status 'independent' (was 'merged'): Bluespace Ventures AG is a multi-shareholder joint venture not majority-owned by one company (cf. calibration record Sobrado); the merger with Well into Compassana-Well AG, announced 24 August 2026, takes effect only from 1 January 2027 and is pending regulatory approvals. Relevance 'moderate' (was 'high'): no user numbers found. Launch dated to the app's nationwide availability (June 2023); the January 2022 announcement is recorded as founding.
What became of it

At launch
Health-insurer and care-provider consortium building one shared care-coordination platform across outpatient, inpatient and digital services, open to other healthcare actors, instead of insurer-specific apps.
2026 reality
The Compassana patient app is available on iOS and Android (per SWICA). On 24 August 2026 Compassana (Bluespace Ventures) and Well announced their merger into Compassana-Well AG, to start operating on 1 January 2027 subject to regulatory approvals, connecting to the Swiss Health Data Space and the planned electronic health record; existing services continue during integration.
LUKS Group joined as shareholder in spring 2023, according to SWICA. A merger with Well was announced in August 2026 and is not yet effective.
Compassana anchored a provider-insurer integrated-care approach (Medbase, Hirslanden) rather than a telemedicine-first app; the announced merger with Well would consolidate the two competing Swiss insurer-backed health ecosystems.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Hirslanden source (404) replaced by compassana.ch; merger verified with joint press release and Inside IT (24 Aug 2026), pending approvals, so company-status merged -> independent. Launch moved 2022-01 (announcement) -> 2023-06 (nationwide app availability per SWICA, dated 19 June 2023); 2022 announcement re-typed as founding. Mission/keyTechnologies aligned with the SWICA feature list (symptom check/teleconsultation were 2022 plans, not verified as delivered). Relevance high -> moderate.
