Innovation intelligence brief
Added by the 2026 Swiss InsurTech research (issue #41) from public sources, not by the original academic study (Stoeckli, Dremel & Uebernickel). Its 2016 and 2017 classifications apply the original taxonomy definitions but were not validated by that study. All innovations in this cohort · Methodology ↗
Generative-AI chatbot 'Chatty' on Generali Switzerland's website that answers customer questions in German, French, Italian and English, helps customers choose policies and gives first assistance with claims, intended to cut telephone waiting times at peak call volumes.
Research profile · Swiss Innovation · 2021–2026
Classification notes · Technology 'ai-enhanced': GenAI augments a conventional customer-service channel. Maturity 'unclear' because no evidence after early 2024 names Chatty; generali.ch still shows a 'Chat' entry point in 2026, but whether it is Chatty was not established. Specificity 'part-of-portfolio' as an incumbent's service tool, although it was built in the HITS garage that also runs Lings (253).
What became of it

At launch
Four-language (DE/FR/IT/EN) GenAI customer chatbot at a mid-sized Swiss incumbent, built with a Swiss start-up; according to Generali it won an ITC DIAmond Award at ITC DIA Europe 2023.
2026 reality
Available in four languages since early 2024 according to Generali. No 2025-2026 evidence specific to Chatty was found; generali.ch shows a chat entry point in 2026.
Extended from German (autumn 2023) to French, Italian and English (early 2024). Generali announced plans to add motor claims notification and a voicebot; their delivery was not verified.
comparable to other Swiss incumbents' GenAI service chatbots; notable mainly for multilingual coverage and the in-house garage-plus-start-up build model.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Dead PDF source (404) replaced by Generali Group's The Pulse article; release URL updated to its redirect target. Corrected technology description (GenAI: Enterprise Bot DocBrain + ChatGPT, built in HITS garage), removed unsourced 'Avanti 2027' claim, hedged the award. No independent (non-Generali) coverage found; the Enterprise Bot case study found concerns a different Generali voicebot ('Leonie') and was not cited. swissConnection type set to 'development'.
