Innovation intelligence brief
Innovation intelligence brief
Added by the 2026 Swiss InsurTech research (issue #41) from public sources, not by the original academic study (Stoeckli, Dremel & Uebernickel). Its 2016 and 2017 classifications apply the original taxonomy definitions but were not validated by that study. All innovations in this cohort · Methodology ↗
In-house service that automatically assesses property flood and natural hazard risk at individual address level, combining Helvetia's customer portfolios and property records with hazard maps, weather data and 50+ building attributes (via Precisely geocoding and data enrichment), replacing postal-code-level risk in tariff models.

Classification notes · Vendor case study and vendor award are the only sources (no Helvetia press release found), so facts are hedged as vendor-reported. Launch year set to the earliest evidence (2025); development likely started earlier. Maturity 'established' reflects the case study's description of production batch use.

At launch
Address-level, automated flood risk pricing for Swiss property insurance, solving the fragmentation of cantonal hazard data.
2026 reality
According to the Precisely case study, the service supports individual queries and weekly batch processing of millions of records with end-to-end automation; Helvetia plans to extend it to other environmental and property risks. No Helvetia statement on use after the Helvetia-Baloise combination was found.
The original model remains substantially intact.
brings granular geospatial risk pricing into a large Swiss incumbent, important as hail and flood losses grow; similar capabilities exist at other large insurers.
Third taxonomy
REVIEW · Both Precisely sources resolve and support the claims (case study; 22 Oct 2025 award release listing Helvetia Group as AI Impact winner). Added the World of Data speaker profile (Head of AI & Geo Analytics since March 2023). No Helvetia primary source or go-live date found; kept REVIEWED with launch 2025 as earliest evidence. Swiss connection type normalised to 'headquarters'.
