One of the first UK peer-to-peer motor insurance propositions: drivers formed online groups whose pooled premiums funded claims, with unused pool money returned at year end.
2026 reality
Guevara no longer operates. It shut down in September 2017, and heyguevara.com now redirects to a GoDaddy domain-for-sale page (observed 2026-10-17).
Founded in London in 2013 and venture-backed, Guevara closed in September 2017 after it was unable to establish a fully capitalised underwriting vehicle, as Insurance Insider reported.
according to trade press and GlobalData commentary, the P2P motor model depended on securing its own underwriting capacity; motor's thin margins, capacity providers' cost concerns and consumers' preference for established brands made that capacity hard to obtain.
frequently cited as an early cautionary example of P2P insurance; the premium-pooling-with-refund idea lives on in models such as Lemonade's giveback and Friendsurance.

REVIEW · Verified the September 2017 closure and its cause (no fully capitalised underwriting vehicle) via the Insurance Insider headline, Coverager and the GlobalData/Life Insurance International commentary. Removed the unverified Mosaic Ventures investor name and attributed the closure reason to trade press rather than the company.
