What became of it
Blocked · Low confidence · Last verified 2026-10-17
Research is blocked: there was not enough public evidence to establish what became of this innovation. Nothing below should be read as a verified 2026 status.
As catalogued
An employer benefits platform that replaced one-size-fits-all group health plans with individually recommended health plans that employees bought on a 'Workplace Market' using an employer contribution, an early defined-contribution model.
2026 reality
hixme.com returns HTTP 404 with a Wix 'ConnectYourDomain' error page (observed 2026-10-17), so no Hixme service is reachable at its domain. No closure, sale or acquisition announcement was found.
Founded in 2013 (Agoura Hills, California; CEO Denny Weinberg, a WellPoint co-founder), Hixme raised a Series A of about USD 10 million led by Kleiner Perkins (October 2015) and a USD 14.1m Series B led by Propel Venture Partners with Transamerica Ventures participating (October 2016), for about USD 26.6m in total. No later company news was found.
Hixme anticipated the individualised, employer-funded health-benefit model that the 2019 ICHRA rules later formalised for many US employers.
REVIEW · Searched for post-2016 news and found none, so the record stays BLOCKED. Corrected the Series A amount to about USD 10m (sources report USD 10.1-10.4m) and added the SFVBJ and Built In LA funding sources.
