Austin-based TheZebra.com operates as an insurance comparison site and licensed agency. Keith Melnick remained CEO in 2025; the agency was named a 2025 Agency of the Year by PropertyCasualty360, and in February 2026 the company appointed a Chief AI Officer.
Grew through further funding rounds (USD 38.5 million Series C in 2020, USD 150 million in 2021), then cut staff in 2022 and changed leadership (founder Adam Lyons left in 2018). In July 2024 it acquired Marble to add policy upload and insurance-wallet features. The original comparison and agency model remains substantially intact.
