A Blockchain-fueled insurance startup with an insurance solution for the sharing economy
What became of it
Reviewed · Low confidence · Last verified 2026-10-17
As catalogued
Sharing-economy insurance distributed through platforms: an opt-in, Lloyd's-underwritten cover for hosts on platforms such as the workspace marketplace Vrumi (2016), using a Z/Yen distributed ledger to record insured parties and counter-party obligations.
2026 reality
The legal entity SafeShare Global Limited (Companies House 09690843, incorporated July 2015, SIC 66220 insurance agents and brokers) is listed as active and files micro-company (not dormant) accounts, most recently to 31 December 2025, with a 'no updates' confirmation statement in July 2026. Its website safeshareinsurance.com shows a hosting 'account suspended' page (October 2026), and no current product, partner or press coverage after the 2016 launch was found.
No evidence of a change in ownership, product or model was found; whether the company still trades or is effectively dormant is not established.
an early (2016) example of platform-embedded sharing-economy cover combined with a distributed ledger, backed by Lloyd's capacity; now of mainly historical interest.
